For the second time in less than a week, Sierra Leonean authorities have stopped the groundbreaking ceremony for a proposed motorbike assembly plant led by businessman Sheik Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as Jagaban.
The ceremony, scheduled for today, was interrupted by Sierra Leone Police officers despite reports that organizers had earlier secured clearance.
A similar disruption occurred last Saturday when police halted preparations at the project site.
The planned assembly plant has been described as a potential source of employment and local economic growth. Mr. Kamara has recently emphasized his commitment to investing in Sierra Leone, with the project positioned as one of his major initiatives.
Event organizers claim that initial approval had been granted for the ceremony but was later withdrawn following directives from higher authorities.
So far, no official statement has been issued by either the government or the police regarding the reasons for the repeated intervention.
Observers note that the matter has drawn significant public attention, with many awaiting clarification on the future of the project.
