Freetown, Sierra Leone – 9th December 2024 – The National Telecommunications Authority (NatCA) has issued a directive mandating all Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in Sierra Leone to strictly comply with the validity periods of their advertised subscription plans.
The directive ensures that data packages labeled as Daily, Weekly, or Monthly last for the specified duration.
In a public notice issued today, NatCA emphasized, “Data subscribed for should last for the duration of the subscription, as advertised.”
The notice also revealed that discussions on the implementation of a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) are underway. The FUP is expected to regulate individual data usage to ensure fairness across subscribers. “The public will be notified when these options are available,” the statement assured.
Addressing recent complaints about network interruptions, NatCA encouraged mobile operators to compensate affected consumers.
“This is a gradual process, and we kindly ask the public to exercise patience during this time,” NatCA stated.
In a move to improve consumer experience, the authority highlighted that top-up bonuses for credit and data recharges are now accessible on all mobile networks.
“NatCA remains committed to enhancing and ensuring consumer satisfaction,” the notice concluded.
For further updates, the public is advised to stay informed through official NatCA communications.
