In a recent development, Mohamed Gento Kamara, the 2023 Mayoral Candidate of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has declared his withdrawal from the political arena, signaling his intent not to pursue any future election campaigns.
Expressing his disillusionment with the political landscape, Kamara has chosen to redirect his efforts towards his business endeavors.
In an interview on Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, he articulated his reasons for this decision, stating, “The incessant strife and betrayals in politics have become intolerable for me. Politics is no longer my calling.”
Kamara’s decision comes on the heels of his defeat to the All People’s Congress (APC) Mayoral candidate, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, who had previously held the position for five years, following the general elections on June 24th.
