The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, along with her team, on Friday 9th August 2024 conducted an inspection of major ongoing tourism development projects at Bureh Beach, Tacugama, and Leicester Peak.
These initiatives of the Government of Sierra Leone, funded through the World Bank’s Economic Diversification Project, aim to transform the tourism landscape by enhancing market access and elevating the quality of tourism products and services.
Once completed, these sites will hold a variety of new ecologically friendly facilities designed to attract both locals and international visitors.
The facilities for Bureh Beach included;
Surf club, Market sheds,Toilet, Boardwalk, Jetty, Road, Car park, Community toilet, and Community borehole, and Water tower.
For Tacugama;
Road work, Car park, Amphi Theater, Botanical Garden, Innovation center, Ticket booth, and Kids playground
Leicester peak
Road work, and Viewing decks.
The Minister and her team are closely overseeing the progress to ensure that the projects are completed by November 2024 and September 2025.
The inspection team included the World Bank SLEDP team, Director of Tourism and other ministry officials.
