The leader of the main opposition party, All People’s Congress in Parliament, Hon Abdul Kargbo has declined a trip to the United States with Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh.
In a post shared on social media, he affirmed his commitment to working with government officials to promote peace, emphasizing his dedication to addressing political tensions between SLPP and APC.
“I’ve met with the chief minister, who’s a good man. I’ll be meeting with him on how we, the young people in governance, can reduce the political tension between SLPP and APC. Let love prevail over hate because this is our only country. Unfortunately, I’ll not make it to the US,” he stated.
During the Ministry of Information’s weekly press conference on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr. Moinina Sengeh announced a seven-man delegation’s trip to Washington DC.
The purpose is to strengthen bilateral relations between the Government of Sierra Leone and America, engaging with the US Congress and the Millennium Challenge Corporation(MCC).
The delegation supposed to include Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Foreign Minister Timothy Kabba, Majority Leader in Parliament Matthew Nyuma, Civil Society Representative Abdul M. Fatoma, President of All Political Parties Association Prince Coker, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Unit-Sierra Leone Ndeye Koroma, and the leader of the delegation Chief Minister Dr. David Sengeh.
Chief Minister Sengeh assured the public that all aspects of the Agreement for National Unity would be implemented, highlighting that all eight resolutions are currently under implementation.
