Two members of Sierra Leone’s Black Leo music group, identified as Medenero and Amadu, have been denied bail and remanded in custody following a February altercation involving the popular musician Famous.
The case, linked to a violent incident earlier this year, was brought before the court this week, where the presiding magistrate ordered both men to remain in detention pending further proceedings.
The next court date has been set for June 11, 2025.
The incident reportedly began in February 2025, when Famous alleged he was assaulted by individuals associated with the Black Leo camp.
Police investigations led to charges against Medenero and Amadu, though the group’s frontman, Kao Denero, was not charged.
Kao Denero, who also serves as Sierra Leone’s Special Envoy for Entertainment, addressed the situation on social media, urging his supporters to stay united: “Blackleo, let’s stand firm. The fight is on. Light over darkness.”
Earlier, Kao confirmed via social media that he had been summoned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at Police Headquarters over allegations made by Famous, including claims that Kao had personally assaulted him with a firearm.
Authorities later cleared Kao of any wrongdoing, but his two associates remain in custody as the case progresses.
