Sierra Leone’s Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has held a dinner and listening session with Paramount Chiefs in Kenema District as part of preparations for the Regional Consultation on Decentralization and Local Governance.
Held on 13 August 2026, the informal engagement provided the Vice President, in his capacity as Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Decentralization, an opportunity to interact directly with traditional leaders and listen to their experiences.
VP Juldeh Jalloh said the essence of the dinner was to create space for candid discussions and gather firsthand perspectives on the realities of local governance across the district.
The discussions focused on council-chiefdom relations, Chiefdom Development Committees, and emerging concerns around social stability.
For the Vice President, the engagement underscored the importance of listening to those at the grassroots as government seeks practical solutions to strengthen decentralization and local governance.
