The Government of Sierra Leone, has set aside 19th February as a national public holiday to commemorate and appreciate our Armed Forces who fought in the second world war and 11 years of civil war in Sierra Leone.
This was made known in a public notice issued today, 16 February 2023.
“The general public is hereby informed that Armed Forces Day will be observed on Sunday, 18th February 2024,” the notice reads.
“Accordingly, Monday, 19th February 2024, will be a public holiday nationwide.”
The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) is responsible for the territorial security of Sierra Leone’s border and for defending the national interests of Sierra Leone, within the framework of its international obligations.
