In an official announcement, East End Lions Football Club has unveiled Charlie Wright as their new Head Coach for the upcoming 2023/24 Sierra Leone Premier League campaign.
Wright, who previously held the position of head coach at Sierra Leone Premier League club FC Kallon for an impressive 13-year tenure, parted ways with the club in May of this year. His departure from FC Kallon was motivated by his desire to seek fresh challenges and opportunities in the football world.
In his resignation letter, Wright expressed his ambition to leverage his extensive skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of football within Sierra Leone.
His dedication to nurturing talent was further evident in his past role as the Head Coach for the Sierra Leone Under 20 squad.
As he steps into his new role, Wright will be succeeding interim head coach Raymond G. Hunter, who will now serve as his assistant.
The weighty responsibility on Wright’s shoulders is to guide the 2019 Sierra Leone Premier League champions, East End Lions FC, back to the summit of Sierra Leonean football. This comes after the club finished in third place during the most recent league season, trailing behind second-place finishers Mighty Blackpool and the reigning champions, Bo Rangers.
