Freetown, September 26, 2025 — A former ward coordinator and a local pastor have been brought before Pademba Road Court No. 1 on allegations of failing to report a treason offense, raising concerns about hidden criminal activity within the community.
The accused, 59-year-old Mohamed Sanu and 53-year-old Pastor Kelly Marrah, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah on Wednesday. Prosecutors allege that between November 26, 2023, and July 26, 2025, the pair knowingly concealed acts of treason committed by Daniel Keleh Mansaray, also known as “Ceaser,” and others yet to be identified.
According to State Counsel Yusuf Isaac Sesay, the defendants were aware of the alleged crime but did not alert authorities, a violation of Sierra Leone’s laws on misprision of treason.
The charges were formally read and explained in court, though neither Sanu nor Marrah entered a plea.
Sesay informed the court that the Attorney General’s consent to proceed would be submitted soon and sought a brief adjournment.
Magistrate Jah subsequently denied bail and ordered both men to be remanded at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown.
The matter is scheduled to continue on September 29, 2025.
