In a significant development on Monday, Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh took decisive action following a surprise visit to various government ministries.
Over 155 public servants from multiple government ministries were served with query letters on Monday, 4 September 2023.
The Chief Minister’s unannounced visit uncovered a troubling pattern of absenteeism “without an excuse” among the public servants.
Sengeh wasted no time in initiating corrective measures, stating, “Last week, I made an unannounced visit to the Government’s largest office. I asked that everyone who was not at work (without an excuse) get a query letter as per the law.”
This swift action reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining productivity and accountability within the public sector. Chief Minister Sengeh’s office confirmed that more than 150 public servants have already received query letters due to negligence in the workplace.
This development underscores the government’s determination to ensure that civil servants fulfil their responsibilities diligently and serve the public effectively.
