The APC leadership have made a song and dance about President Julius Maada Bio’s public address in Bo City last week in which he said that, those who want to use force to overthrow his government would receive force in return. That is reciprocal justice!
The APC must appreciate President Bio for publicly ruling himself out of a third term debate. He has done so in the first year of his final five year mandate.
The man has survived two violent coup attempts since he came to power in 2018. This is a man who came to power through the ballot box. As President, he is responsible for the security of the state.
It would be recalled that, after he was sacked as Vice President in March 2015, Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana declared publicly that, his boss (President Ernest Bai Koroma) sacked him mainly for opposing his third term bid.
He went further to disclose that, his boss had threatened senior APC party members at State House that, if anyone tried to overthrow his government, he would execute that person and pour champagne over their corpse. Did the APC condemn their leader for that? No, they never did. Instead, they defended him openly.
President Bio is absolutely correct to have said what he said in Bo City. If the APC really mean well for this country, they should be putting their openly divided house in order and prepare for general elections in 2028.
The people of this country are genuinely angry that, APC members and supporters do not want to give peace a chance. In a democratic society, people have the right to elect leaders of their choice. President Bio was elected and re-elected in April 2018 and in June 2023 for another five year term in order to deliver on his manifesto promise anchored on five pillars for national development.
Those who are planning to violently overturn the verdict of the electorate delivered in June 2023 have a mountain to climb. They have another four years left to prepare for general elections in 2028. Let them wait for their turn. This is Maada Bio’s turn.
Bullet for bullet is the best way to treat anti-democratic forces. Those who hate to hear this, should drown themselves in the Rokel River. Period!
