A residential building collapsed this afternoon at K. Step, Alpha Terrace, in Calaba Town, east of Freetown.
According to initial reports, no fatalities or injuries have been recorded. The collapse, however, caused extensive damage to property, leaving affected residents counting their losses and in need of urgent support.
The cause of the incident has not yet been officially confirmed.
Authorities, including the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), are expected to assess the scene promptly and determine the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
Calaba Town and surrounding communities in the east end of Freetown have previously experienced structural failures linked to heavy rains, flooding and ageing or poorly maintained buildings.
Residents in the area are being urged to remain vigilant and report any signs of cracks or instability in structures to the relevant authorities.
