English Championship side, Blackburn Rovers are in advanced negotiations to sign Sierra Leonean striker Augustus Kargbo from Italian Serie B side Cesena.
According to various reports, the Lancashire club has submitted an initial bid of £675,000, which falls short of Cesena’s €1.2 million (£1.05 million) valuation. Cesena is firm on their asking price, and Blackburn must increase their offer to secure the 25-year-old forward, BBC reported.
Kargbo has been a key player for Cesena, and the Italian club is reluctant to let him go for less than their desired fee. Blackburn’s initial bid was rejected, and the club is now weighing its next move in the transfer pursuit.
The transfer window deadline is approaching, adding pressure on Blackburn to finalize the deal promptly. The club’s management is keen to bolster their attacking options, and acquiring Kargbo would be a significant addition to their squad.
Kargbo has an impressive record, with 44 career goals to his name.
If the deal goes through, Kargbo will become the latest Sierra Leonean to play in English football, following in the footsteps of stars like Kei Kamara and Mustapha Bundu, who is currently playing for Championship side Plymouth Rovers.
More details on the transfer are expected soon.
