Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All Peoples Congress (APC) has published a comprehensive Rules of Association/Affiliation, application fees and membership dues.
The party issued these directives In a public notice dated 4 November 2024, and signed by the Secretary General of APC, Lansana Dumbuya Esq.
“Pursuant to Article 9 (b) of the APC Constitution 2022, “Associate membership shall be upon to Sierra Leonean organisations that subscribe to the aims, objectives, policies and programs of the Party,” the APC stated.
Upon the instructions of the National Advisory Committee (NAC), the National Secretariat hereby publish Rules of Association/Affiliation, application fees and membership dues.
These rules shall apply to existing affiliate groups and new groups who wish to be associated with the Party.
RULES OF ASSOCIATION
Every Sierra Leonean organization that wishes to be associated with the Party must fulfil the following criteria:
1. Must be a registered organisation under the laws of Sierra Leone.
2. Must have an existing constitution.
3. All members of the organisation must be registered and fully paid up members of the APC.
4. The organisation must have a clearly defined executive, elected in line with their constitution.
5. Membership of the organisation must not be less than 70 (seventy).
6. No member SHALL belong to more than 2 (two) associate groups, associated/affiliated with the Party.
7. Must apply for membership to the Party in an appropriate form and pay the requisite yearly dues.
8. Application fee shall be Le. 100.00 (One Hundred Leones).
9. Yearly subscription for shall be LJ, 5,000.00 (Five Thousand Leones).
These Rules as cited above has not particularised diasporan membership issues such as who to pay membership fees to, transparency of financial accounting, organograms, numbered etc. membership cards, optimisations/contributions/inputs, planning, meetings, complaints, discontent, and disciplinary etc. procedures.
