The All Peoples Congress (APC) has distanced itself from letters issued by Alfred Peter Conteh, dated November 18 and 25, 2024, in which Conteh allegedly claimed to be the party’s chairman.
In a statement released on November 25, the APC reaffirmed Hon. Minkailu Mansaray as its National Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, branding Conteh’s actions as a deliberate misrepresentation and distortion of facts.
“These unauthorized communications by Mr. Alfred Peter Conteh are egregious acts of impersonation,” the party declared in its statement. “Mr. Conteh is not the Chairman of the APC and holds no authority to speak or act on behalf of the party.”
The APC emphasized that the issues raised in Conteh’s letters, including allegations of electoral irregularities and democratic erosion, had already been addressed through official channels.
According to the party, it has engaged extensively with the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), development partners, and the international community on these matters.
“Mr. Conteh’s claims of collusion between the APC leadership and the government are baseless and defamatory,” the statement added. “We strongly warn him to desist from further impersonation and misrepresentation.”
The APC demanded an immediate retraction of all communications issued by Conteh in the party’s name and cautioned him against further actions that could tarnish the party’s image. Failure to comply, the party warned, would lead to disciplinary and legal measures.
The APC also urged national and international institutions to disregard communications from Conteh, emphasizing that they do not represent the party’s official stance. The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has been formally notified of the situation.
The party used the opportunity to reiterate its commitment to democratic principles, transparency, and the rule of law in Sierra Leone.
“We remain focused on addressing the pressing challenges facing our nation and will not be distracted by individuals seeking to derail our mission,” the statement concluded.
