In a significant development within the All Peoples Congress Party, the Constituency 129 executive, along with wards 438 and 439 executives of the West District, have today issued a letter of disassociation from the actions of Hon. Alfred Ayodele Thompson.
The decision was reached unanimously after a lengthy discussion.
The primary reason for this decision is Hon. Thompson’s failure to adhere to the party’s resolution, despite the existence of a memorandum of understanding signed by all elected members of parliament.
This memorandum aimed to prevent their participation in any form of governance, citing concerns over the lack of transparency and accountability of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) during the recent general elections.
The constituency executives want to emphasize that Hon. Thompson’s actions are personal and do not reflect the wishes of the electorate. As a result, they have declared their intention to sever all ties with him. This includes refraining from attending his meetings and any other activities associated with him.
Constituency Secretary Imam Gbassay Kamara conveyed the decision on behalf of the executives and grassroots of the constituency. The letter, addressed to the National Secretary General of the APC, highlights their stance and seeks acknowledgment of the decision.
