Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All Peoples Congress (APC) has expressed deep concern over the targeted attack on their Party Headquarters, labeling it a “security breach.”
This was made known in a statement signed by Lansana Dumbuya Esq, the National Secretary-General of the APC.
The incident occurred during the shooting spree that unfolded on November 26th, causing significant damage to the facility.
The APC went on to lament the extrajudicial execution of an official state security personnel and the abduction of another at the residence of their former Chairman and Leader in Freetown.
The party strongly opposed what they perceive as a deliberate targeting of their leadership and members, asserting that premises were ransacked based on false allegations.
Emphasizing their commitment to non-violence, the APC reiterated its dedication to acquiring political power through democratic means. The party unequivocally denounced the use of force in politics.
In response to the security threat and the conflicting narratives surrounding the events, the APC called for an inclusive, speedy, conclusive investigation.
They stressed the importance of a fair, independent, and transparent inquiry to address the emerging complexities.
