The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that the application window for the vacant Leone Stars Head Coach position has officially closed, with a total of 79 applications received.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, 79 candidates submitted their applications by the Tuesday, May 12, 2026 deadline. These include 3 local and 76 foreign applicants, reflecting strong international interest in leading Sierra Leone’s senior national team.
The SLFA stated that its Technical Committee and Technical Department have begun reviewing all submissions. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next phase of the recruitment process, which includes interviews.
“The Association remains committed to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process,” the SLFA emphasized in the release.
The position of Leone Stars Head Coach has been a subject of keen interest among football stakeholders in Sierra Leone, as the national team looks to strengthen its squad and improve its performances in upcoming international competitions.
