Bo City, Sierra Leone – September 26, 2023
In an effort to promote cleanliness and hygiene within the city, the Bo City Council has declared Saturday, 30th September 2023, as “General Cleaning Day” in Bo City.
This initiative aims to address issues related to waste management and beautification within the municipality.
What to Expect on General Cleaning Day
Residents and property owners are urged to take part in this civic duty by ensuring their garages, drainages, empty plots of land, and areas around their premises are thoroughly cleaned. Overgrown grass and bushes should also be trimmed.
Street Closure Notice
To facilitate the cleaning activities, the Bo City Council has announced that all streets within the city will be closed to the public from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, 30th September 2023. This closure applies to all non-governmental organizations, commercial establishments, government offices, and private vehicle and motorcycle owners.
Enforcement and Consequences
The authorities are taking this initiative seriously. Anyone found violating the regulations of General Cleaning Day will be required to participate in the cleaning activities as a form of punishment. Parents and guardians are strongly advised to ensure that their children refrain from using the streets for recreational activities during this period, as those caught playing football on the streets will face legal consequences.
The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), and the Bo City Council Metropolitan Police will be actively present within the municipality to enforce these regulations. It is expected that this joint effort will contribute to a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing Bo City.
Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the authorities and contribute to the success of General Cleaning Day in Bo City on Saturday, 30th September 2023, for the betterment of the entire community.
