Annie Walsh Memorial School Board Addresses Viral Video Controversy
The Annie Walsh Memorial School (AWMS) Board has in a public notice issued today acknowledged a viral video alleging the involvement of thier principal in a corruption scandal.
“It has come to the notice of the AWMS Board about the video which has gone viral. This matter is under investigation and the Board will issue a press release after the investigation is completed,” the Board stated.
The acting Principal, contrary to circulating rumors, remains unharmed and actively fulfilling her responsibilities, as confirmed by the AWMS Secretary to the Board.
However, a source from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) earlier revealed that the school’s principal was summoned for questioning regarding alleged corruption on November 29th, 2023. The situation escalated, leading to the alleged arrest and detention of her by the ACC.
This incident stems from a video posted by Esther Collier, a student, detailing her rejection from AWMS despite achieving grades comparable to her peers.
Collier passionately conveyed her disappointment, having turned down a scholarship from her previous school to pursue her aspirations at Annie Walsh Memorial School.
Her outcry calls on Sierra Leone authorities to address the perceived injustice.
