Freetown, Sierra Leone – Admire Bio Jalloh, known as “Mama of Freetown,” lost her mother, Miss Eku, who died of a heart attack while Bio was involved in court proceedings related to a fraud case.
Miss Eku passed away during the period of Bio’s legal matters. Condolences have circulated on social media, including messages wishing her soul rest in peace.
Bio, niece of President Julius Maada Bio, was detained in June 2026 by the Criminal Investigation Department in Freetown in connection with an alleged gold transaction scam involving two Italian nationals, valued at approximately $220,000 to $300,000. Her husband, Alhaji Dauzy Jalloh, is wanted by police in the same case.
During today’s proceedings, Magistrate Jah granted Bio bail under strict conditions, including: Property surety valued at US$500,000, surrender of property conveyance documents and passports and the prohibition from using social media, with bail subject to immediate revocation if breached.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter to 9th July 2026 for continuation of proceedings. The investigation continues, with reports of possible out-of-court settlement discussions. No final charges have been confirmed.
Bio is a businesswoman and social media personality with a following in Sierra Leone. Details on funeral arrangements for Miss Eku have not been publicly announced.
