FREETOWN, Monday, 6th October 2026 The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal filed by former football administrator Aminata Bangura against the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), the FA confirmed on Monday.
According to a press statement from the SLFA Secretariat, the decision is contained in an Arbitral Award issued on 5th October 2026 in the matter CAS 2025/A/11613 Aminata Bangura v. Sierra Leone Football Association.
The CAS Panel, sitting in Lausanne, Switzerland, upheld the decision of the SLFA Ethics Board dated 19th July 2025 and dismissed Bangura’s appeal in its entirety.
The Tribunal further ordered that the costs of the arbitration be borne by the appellant, and that she pays a contribution of CHF 3,000 (Three Thousand Swiss Francs) – approximately NLe 77,000 – towards the SLFA’s legal costs and expenses.
The SLFA said it welcomes the award.
“The award affirms the decisions of its judicial bodies and underscores the importance of integrity, transparency and compliance within football governance,” the Association said in the statement.
“The SLFA remains committed to upholding standards of good governance and accountability in the administration of football in Sierra Leone.”
Background
The SLFA Ethics Board is the independent judicial body responsible for investigating and adjudicating breaches of the SLFA Ethics Code, including issues relating to conflict of interest, abuse of position, and integrity in football administration.
Ms. Bangura had challenged the Ethics Board’s July 2025 ruling by taking the matter to CAS, which is the world’s highest sports court and final appellate body for football disputes.
The ruling means the original sanctions and findings imposed by the SLFA Ethics Board against her remain in full force.
The SLFA did not reproduce the details of the original July 2025 Ethics Board decision in its statement, but said the CAS award vindicates its internal judicial processes at a time when the association is pushing to clean up the governance of the game in the country.
