Freetown, Sierra Leone – A young woman identified as Zainab was reportedly abducted on her way to work at Grassfield on Tuesday, sparking widespread concern among residents.
The kidnappers are said to have demanded a ransom of NLe 10,000 (10 million old Leones). Police officers, acting swiftly on intelligence, later discovered the victim tied up in Allentown, a community recently noted for an upsurge in kidnapping activities.
The Sierra Leone Police have since assured the public of their commitment to tackling such crimes and restoring safety within affected communities.
They are also urging residents to remain vigilant, particularly when moving at night, and to avoid accepting unsolicited lifts from strangers.
Authorities further advised that individuals remain alert to their surroundings and exercise caution when approached with offers that appear unusually convenient.
