A private, non-scheduled aircraft made an unauthorized landing at Freetown International Airport (FNA) on the night of September 19, 2024, at 11:54 p.m., without an approved landing permit.
State security forces quickly impounded the aircraft, and all four individuals on board were taken into police custody for further investigation.
The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), including the Director General and inspectors from the Directorate of Flight Safety Standards and Aviation Security, were present at the scene to assist in the initial interrogation of the suspects.
The SLCAA has assured the public of its continued commitment to maintaining the safety and security of civil aviation in the country, noting that investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
