Kailahun District, Sierra Leone – In a decisive operation, police at the Koindu Bendu border crossing in Kissi Tongi Chiefdom, Kailahun District, have apprehended two individuals suspected of drug trafficking.
The suspects, identified as Joseph Banya, alias “F1 17” from Kenema, and Morris Kamara, alias “Okeke,” from Foya, Liberia, were detained around 3:00 pm on Friday, June 21.
The arrests occurred as the suspects attempted to smuggle drugs into Sierra Leone.
Authorities discovered 52 black plastic bags containing Kush, a commonly abused recreational drug. The drugs were allegedly being transported from Liberia to Buedu, Sierra Leone.
Police are investigating the scope of the operation and any links to organized crime networks.
