Lungi, Sierra Leone – 26 November 2025: A junior soldier attached to the Presidential Guard Unit has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his superior this morning at the Force Intelligence and Security Unit (FISU) precinct, Freetown International Airport (FIA), Lungi.
Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) authorities confirmed that at approximately 10:00 a.m., Corporal Steven (service number 18181456) allegedly shot Warrant Officer Class I Moses Brima Kabba during an altercation reportedly triggered by an issue of indiscipline.
Eyewitnesses say the suspect opened fire on WOI Kabba, his immediate supervisor, before fleeing the scene with his service rifle toward the Freetown highway.
A joint manhunt by military police and personnel from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) led to his swift arrest a few hours later.
The suspect is currently in military custody as investigations continue.
The body of the deceased senior non-commissioned officer has been deposited at the Lungi Government Hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.
Military sources describe the incident as “deeply regrettable,” stressing that both soldiers were members of the elite Presidential Guard Force responsible for VIP protection duties.
No further details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
