Freetown, 11 July 2025 – In a significant push to enhance the quality of education across Sierra Leone, the Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission (SLTSC) has announced the opening of its nationwide teacher recruitment exercise for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Commission aims to recruit 3,300 qualified teachers into public schools.
The online application process officially begins on Monday, 14 July 2025, and will be conducted through the Teacher Management Information System (TMIS) portal. However, only applicants who have successfully passed the Teacher Licensing Examination will be eligible to apply, as part of SLTSC’s commitment to professionalizing the teaching workforce.
According to the Commission, this recruitment drive is part of a broader effort to ensure that classrooms are staffed with well-trained and certified teachers, in line with national education reform priorities.
Prospective applicants are required to visit their respective TSC District Offices to fill out both the recruitment and NASSIT forms, particularly if they do not already have a NASSIT number. The full list of available teaching positions will be displayed at district offices and published on the SLTSC website.
Applicants must ensure they have digital copies of the following documents ready:
* National Identification Card
* Bank Account Details
* Recommendation Letter from a Preferred School (optional)
Importantly, those who previously submitted applications in May or June 2025 must reapply to be considered under the current recruitment cycle.
The deadline for all applications is Tuesday, 29 July 2025.
The Commission has issued a strong warning against any form of bribery or corruption during the recruitment process. It emphasized that the process is entirely free of charge, and any individual caught soliciting or offering payment for placement will be prosecuted under the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Act.
The SLTSC continues to promote its guiding principle: “Better Teachers, Stronger Nation,” reaffirming its dedication to strengthening the teaching profession and shaping Sierra Leone’s educational future.
