Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Julius F. Sandy, has on Thursday 30 January officially presented his letter of credence to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming the strong diplomatic and historical ties between the two West African nations.
During the ceremony at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s long-standing commitment to regional development and cooperation with Sierra Leone.
“Nigeria’s decades-long investment in Sierra Leone has contributed to Africa’s progress and strengthened our regional ties,” Tinubu stated, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration.
Dr. Sandy expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s unwavering support over the years, acknowledging the deep-rooted cultural and economic connections between the two nations.
“In Sierra Leone, more Nigerians are doing business than Sierra Leoneans. Most of my teachers in school were Nigerians. There is no difference between a Nigerian and a Sierra Leonean when walking in the streets of Freetown,” he noted.
The High Commissioner also pledged to strengthen bilateral relations further, particularly in trade, education, and security cooperation.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to regional stability and economic progress.
