The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has issued a public notice informing citizens of scheduled maintenance on the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) fiber cable.
The maintenance, managed by Zoodlabs, will take place on today, May 31, 2024, from 00:01 UTC to 10:00 UTC.
“Zoodlabs, the company responsible for the Submarine Fiber Cable Landing Station, will carry out essential maintenance work,” stated NatCA officials.
They added that during this period, two of the three circuits will be affected. However, internet service will continue through an alternative route to Cape Town.
Despite these arrangements, users may experience slower internet speeds and delays. “We have arranged alternative routes for internet traffic to minimize the impact, but some disruption is inevitable,” a Zoodlabs representative explained.
NatCA has acknowledged the potential inconvenience, emphasizing their commitment to minimizing disruptions.
“We are aware that this may cause inconvenience to both operators and customers,” NatCA management noted. “We will work closely with Zoodlabs to monitor the situation and ensure that the repair is completed as quickly as possible.”
The organization assured the public that their primary goal is to restore normal internet services without unnecessary delay.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” NatCA management concluded.
