Accra, Ghana – The Sierra Leone High Commission in Ghana has strongly refuted allegations circulating on social media that its High Commissioner, Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, was arrested in Accra for possessing cocaine.
In a press statement released on Monday, the Commission condemned the claims as “false, malicious, and baseless,” asserting that they are part of a deliberate effort to tarnish both the High Commissioner’s reputation and that of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
“This is nothing more than a deliberate fabrication, designed to damage the personal integrity of the High Commissioner and tarnish the esteemed reputation of the Republic of Sierra Leone,” the statement read.
The High Commission emphasized that Ambassador Kaisamba has never been involved in any unlawful activities, describing him as a law-abiding diplomat who upholds “the highest standards of professionalism, dignity, and integrity.”
“These desperate attempts to smear the High Commissioner are not only irresponsible but also an affront to truth and justice,” the Commission stated.
The statement urged the public to dismiss the rumors, warning that the spread of such misinformation not only harms individuals but also undermines the nation’s credibility. It further announced that evidence will soon be provided to expose the manipulation of a foreign news outlet in an attempt to discredit the diplomat.
“The Republic of Sierra Leone is a country built on honour, resilience, and dignity, and High Commissioner Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba will continue to serve it with unwavering dedication,” the statement concluded.
Authorities have yet to identify the source of the rumors, but the High Commission assured that it remains committed to strengthening diplomatic ties between Sierra Leone and Ghana.
