The Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) Management has taken swift action following the discovery of illicit substances in the possession of several officers.
In a recent incident at the Freetown Male Correctional Centre, Officer 2CCO Musa Samura (2855) was apprehended with a package suspected to contain marijuana at the main entrance. This violation directly breaches Section 22 (a) of the 2014 SLCS Act, which strictly prohibits the possession or distribution of intoxicating substances within correctional facilities.
In response to this egregious breach of protocol, Officer Samura has been promptly dismissed from the service and handed over to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) for further investigation.
This decisive action underscores the SLCS’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of its correctional centers.
Moreover, the SLCS has also identified and dismissed four additional officers implicated in drug-related offenses.
These officers, namely 2CCO Alimamy Bangura (3814), 3CCO Alhassan Bangura (3974), 3CCO Alpha Morray Kargbo (4226), and 3CCO Alimamy Kamara (3751), have been relieved of their duties as part of the Service’s rigorous stance against illicit activities.
In a statement addressing the public, the SLCS reaffirmed its dedication to fostering a safe and drug-free environment within all correctional facilities.
The Service remains resolute in its mission to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, ensuring the well-being and rehabilitation of inmates.
