Egypt’s national football team, the Pharaohs, have announced their squad for two crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers, including a highly anticipated match against Sierra Leone on March 25 in Cairo. Among the notable names in the lineup are star forward Mohamed Salah and dynamic attacker Omar Marmoush, both of whom are expected to play key roles in Egypt’s campaign.
Head coach Hossam Hassan has named a strong squad as Egypt aims to solidify its top spot in Group A.
The Pharaohs currently lead the group with 10 points from four matches, ahead of Guinea-Bissau (6 points), Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and Djibouti.
Egypt’s first test will be against Ethiopia on March 21 in Morocco, followed by their home fixture against Sierra Leone. The match against the Leone Stars will kick off at 9:00 PM in Cairo.
The squad announcement saw some surprises, with Al Ahly’s Emam Ashour left out despite his strong performances in the Egyptian Premier League. Zamalek’s Ahmed Fatouh also misses out due to a knee injury.
