Today, on Thursday, 3rd August 2023, the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio addressed the nation during the opening of the Sixth Parliament of the Second Republic.
Emphasizing the promises made in the SLPP People’s Manifesto, the President unveiled a comprehensive national development agenda comprising five key initiatives aimed at shaping the country’s future.
The first initiative, “Feed Salone”, is focused on boosting agricultural productivity, ensuring food security, and fostering inclusive economic growth, laying the foundation for long-term prosperity.
The second initiative, “Human Capital Development”, will concentrate on promoting gender equality and nurturing the skills required for the industries of the 21st Century, empowering the workforce for a transformative future.
The third initiative, “Youth Employment Scheme”, aims to create abundant job opportunities for the youth, providing them with a platform to flourish and contribute to the nation’s progress.
The fourth initiative, “Technology and Infrastructure Initiative”, will play a pivotal role in driving sustained economic growth by harnessing innovation and developing robust infrastructure, propelling Sierra Leone towards middle-income status.
The fifth and final initiative, “Revamping the Public Service Architecture”, will focus on enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of public sector institutions, ushering in a new era of delivery.
These strategic initiatives are set to pave the way for profound change in Sierra Leone, acting as catalysts to revolutionize economic growth, tackle hunger and poverty, elevate public service efficiency, generate ample employment prospects, and bolster resilience in the face of adversity.
