Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has appointed David W.S. Banya as the Chief Executive Officer of the newly established Wages and Compensation Commission.
This significant appointment, in line with Section 14 of the Wages and Compensation Act, 2023, is currently pending approval from the nation’s Parliament.
The official appointment letter from President Bio states, “I have the honour to inform you that it has pleased His Excellency the President to appoint you as Chief Executive Officer, Wages and Compensation.”
The next step involves initiating discussions with the Clerk of Parliament to present the nomination before the committee on Appointments and the Public Service, where it will be thoroughly evaluated.
David W.S. Banya, previously serving as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, brings a wealth of experience to his potential role.
The Wages and Compensation Commission holds a critical mandate to address compensation issues and ensure equitable wages across the nation.
