In response to the State House Press Secretary’s announcement on 20th November 2023 regarding the establishment of a Three-Way Committee to review the electoral system for the upcoming 2023 elections, the All People’s Congress (APC) party expresses concern over the inclusion of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the committee.
The APC made this stance in a press statement dated 21 November 2023, and signed by Lansana Dumbuya Esq National Secretary-General All Peoples Congress.
The APC emphasizes the importance of upholding the 18th October 2023 Agreement and insists that the government’s decision to expand the committee without the APC’s consent goes against the spirit of the accord.
The APC underscores the agreed-upon role of CSOs, religious bodies, paramount chiefs, and others as moral guarantors alongside the international community, as outlined in Resolution 8 of the agreement.
Calling for immediate retraction of the press statement before the 4:00pm launching ceremony, the APC asserts that the government must honor the terms of Resolution 3, maintaining the Three-Way Committee structure as originally outlined in the agreement.
