Freetown, 26th March 2025 – Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has left the country today for an official visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
According to State House, the visit is expected to enhance bilateral relations and promote cooperation across various sectors.
Sierra Leone and Egypt share longstanding diplomatic ties, dating back to Sierra Leone’s independence in 1961. Over the years, both nations have collaborated in areas such as education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure development. Egypt has provided scholarships and technical assistance to Sierra Leone, while trade and investment opportunities have continued to grow between the two countries.
President Bio’s visit underscores the commitment of both governments to deepening their partnership.
Discussions are expected to focus on economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and areas of mutual interest, including security and sustainable development.
This visit marks another step in strengthening diplomatic ties between Sierra Leone and Egypt, reinforcing their shared commitment to regional stability and economic progress.
