Kenema, Sierra Leone — The Sierra Leone Police Eastern Region on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, formally handed over murder suspect Augustine Tamba Lendeh, alias “T-Boy,” to Liberian authorities.
Lendeh was arrested in Kenema two days earlier, on Monday, August 3, following intelligence that linked him to the alleged murder of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Dearest Paye, in Monrovia.
Investigators believe the killing occurred during a domestic dispute, after which the suspect fled across the border in an attempt to escape arrest.
The transfer was carried out under established cross-border security protocols and reflected close cooperation between Sierra Leonean and Liberian law enforcement agencies.
During the handover ceremony, ACP Joe Kamanda Bongay, Regional Police Commander East, welcomed the Liberian delegation on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.
He reaffirmed the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to regional collaboration in tackling transnational crime.
Superintendent Cary G. Karzon, Team Leader of the Liberia National Police’s National Central Bureau in Monrovia, thanked the Sierra Leone Police for their swift action and professionalism.
He said the successful transfer demonstrates the strong partnership between the two countries’ security forces in promoting justice and regional security.
The operation highlights Sierra Leone’s continued role in supporting cross-border efforts to bring alleged offenders to justice.
