Freetown, June 19, 2025 – Law enforcement authorities at the Harbour Police Division have intensified efforts to combat illicit drug activity with a successful operation at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium, culminating in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of suspected cannabis.
The operation, which took place on Tuesday, June 17, was led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis M. Tommy.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers conducted a targeted sweep of the stadium and surrounding areas believed to be hotspots for drug trafficking and abuse.
During the raid, police apprehended Mohamed Serry and uncovered several concealed packages of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa hidden within a makeshift structure allegedly used by the suspect.
In a follow-up enforcement action the next day, June 18, officers dismantled the unauthorized structure in an effort to disrupt ongoing illegal activity and prevent further use of the location for drug-related operations.
The seized substances have been sent for forensic testing, and investigations into the suspect’s involvement in drug possession and distribution are currently underway.
The Harbour Police Division has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and has called on members of the public to continue supporting their efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
Authorities say such collaboration is crucial in the fight against drug abuse and crime in Freetown’s communities.
