In the early hours of today, a heavy downpour in the Western Area Rural District led to the collapse of a perimeter fence in the Rogbangban community, resulting in two fatalities and over four injuries.
The incident occurred when the fence of a nearby mansion gave way, crushing a house below where the victims were sleeping.
Councillor Zechariah Kanneh of the Western Area Rural District Council confirmed that an elderly woman and her child were among the deceased.
Authorities, including the police, are currently on-site conducting assessments.
The recent months of continuous rainfall have caused localized flooding, collapsed of buildings, and road disruptions.
This tragedy comes just weeks after a four-storey building in Wellington and another one collapsed in Congo Town, claiming the lives of three people, including a 19-year-old pregnant woman.
