Freetown, Sierra Leone – Madam Asmaa James, Sierra Leone’s newly approved Deputy Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium, is set to take up her post with a commitment to advancing the development of Sierra Leone on the global stage.
James, who was recently appointed by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, expressed her gratitude and dedication in a social media post earlier today.
“It is a great honor and privilege to have been appointed by His Excellency, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, to the esteemed position of Deputy Ambassador to The Kingdom of Belgium,” she stated. “I am humbled by this incredible opportunity to serve our nation and to contribute to diplomacy on the global stage.”
The newly appointed Deputy Ambassador emphasized her dedication to public service, saying, “This appointment reinforces my commitment to public service and inspires me to continue striving for excellence in this esteemed role.”
She added that she plans to “work closely with our team in Brussels, representing our country with the utmost respect, diligence, and professionalism” and vowed to “maintain and strengthen the bond between our two nations.”
James also took the opportunity to thank the members of Parliament for their unanimous approval of her appointment.
“I extend my sincere thanks to the members of Parliament for their unanimous approval of my appointment and for their kind recognition of my work over the years,” she noted.
Asmaa James, a seasoned journalist, radio host, and renowned gender and human rights activist, brings over 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism and management to her new role.
Her objective approach and dedication to strengthening democratic governance have been instrumental in shaping her career and contributions to Sierra Leone and the African continent.
Reflecting on her journey, she expressed deep gratitude to her supporters, saying, “To my family, friends, and all those who have supported and believed in me, I offer my heartfelt thanks.”
She also extended special thanks to her colleagues in the media, acknowledging their role in her personal and professional growth.
James further shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming diplomatic mission, stating, “In a few weeks, I will depart the shores of Sierra Leone with a heart full of pride and gratitude. As I prepare for this important diplomatic mission to Brussels, I carry with me the hope and dedication that will guide my work in representing our nation.”
Parliament recently gave its unanimous approval for James to assume her new role, marking a significant step in her career. She will soon depart for Brussels, where she aims to further strengthen Sierra Leone’s diplomatic ties with Belgium.
