In a significant move this week from August 9-13, the Mano River Union (MRU) Team has launched a mission to the Sierra Leone-Liberia Borders.
Their objective: to meticulously identify and select 1500 adept women traders deeply involved in the Cassava, Palm Oil, and Vegetables Value Chain. These selected entrepreneurs are poised to be the recipients of a substantial grant generously provided by the African Development Fund.
The grant is set to fuel the implementation of a transformative initiative known as the “Build Inclusive Business Ecosystems for Stabilization and Transformation” (BI-BEST) across the Mano River Union region.
The core ambition of this pioneering project is to instill newfound vigor into the economic landscape, while concurrently fostering social cohesion.
At the heart of BI-BEST lies a resolute dedication to empower Women Traders (WTs) who actively participate in cross-border Value Chains (VCs).
The overarching vision is to fortify these women entrepreneurs, enabling them to thrive amidst the intricate web of interconnected markets. By cultivating resilient economic growth within these Value Chains, the initiative aims to create a sustainable foundation for both individual prosperity and the broader socio-economic fabric of the Mano River Union.
