In a tragic incident unfolding in the serene confines of Kodakoyei forest at Kalkoya village, Sengbeh chiefdom, Koinadugu district, a Malian national identified as Gibril Kolaybalie, known locally as ‘Rasta’, has been fatally shot with a homemade single-barrel gun allegedly by Musa Marah, a resident and local hunter.
According to village sources, Gibril Kolaybalie, who was engaged in legal timber harvesting activities in the Koinadugu and Falaba twin districts, was reported missing since Wednesday, February 21st, 2024.
Concerned by his disappearance, village authorities mobilized youths for a search, leading to the discovery of his lifeless body in the forest, bearing gunshot wounds and accompanied by hunting paraphernalia.
Musa Marah, the alleged perpetrator, had evaded authorities but was later apprehended and is currently in police custody at the Kabala Divisional Headquarters.
During preliminary investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) with Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police (D/ASP) Mohamed Hindolo Feika Feika as the Crime Officer, Musa Marah disclosed that the deceased Gibril Kolaybalie, transformed himself into a buffalo (bush-cow) which prompted him to shoot at it.
He went on further to say the buffalo later transformed into human which he later noticed to be Gibril Kolaybalie who later died of gunshots wounds sustained.
Investigation into the matter continues.
