Kenema, Sierra Leone – Two suspects, Abdulrahman Jalloh from Burma III and Fatmata Sow from New England Nyandeyama Section, have been apprehended by the police and are currently undergoing interrogation over the death Juldeh Jalloh, a 21-year-old student of Njala University.
In a statement issued this evening, the Regional Criminal Investigation Department (RCID) of the Eastern Region confirmed that they have launched an investigation into an alleged murder reported early on the morning of August 17, 2024. The incident was brought to the attention of authorities at the Kenema Police Station.
Regional Crime Officer, East, D/ASP Mohamed Feika, confirmed that the case, which took place in the New England area of Nyandeyama Section, Kenema City, is being thoroughly investigated. His team is working diligently to ensure justice is served for the deceased and their family.
Two suspects, Abdulrahman Jalloh from Burma III and Fatmata Sow from New England Nyandeyama Section, have been apprehended by the police and are currently undergoing interrogation.
In an interview, Investigating Officer D/PC 11702 Bao M.M. disclosed that he received information about the alleged murder from the Operation Departments of the Kenema Division. The report came from an OSD Officer, who discovered a dying man beside a white motorcycle in the New England area.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the lifeless body of 21-year-old Juldeh Jalloh from Hangha Road, lying on his motorbike. Detective Bao stated that they conducted a thorough search of the area for evidence, eventually uncovering footprints that led to a nearby house.
During the investigation, one of the officers recognized the deceased as a friend. It was also revealed that Juldeh Jalloh had a romantic relationship with a woman in the area, identified as Fatmata Sow.
The police approached a resident of the house, who initially denied any knowledge of Fatmata Sow and claimed to be living alone with her child. However, further investigation confirmed the woman’s identity as Fatmata Sow, and a man, Abdulrahman Jalloh, was found hiding in one of the rooms.
According to reports, the victim is a student at the Njala university, and was strangled to death by the accuse after finding him in bed with his girlfriend.
Both Fatmata Sow and Abdulrahman Jalloh were taken into custody and are being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
