In a final training session at Liberia’s Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, Leone Stars honed their skills in preparation for a pivotal match against Egypt’s Pharaohs on Sunday, November 19th.
The showdown, set for 4 pm at the same venue, marks the second match day of the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Former Leone Stars striker Kei Kamara, addressing the team before training commenced, urged players to approach the game with utmost seriousness, aiming to meet the expectations of their supporters by securing a victory.
Post-training, Head Coach Amidu Karim shared his confidence: “We are focused and well-prepared to take on our opponent. We are not afraid; years ago, we held them to a draw in their own country. This time, we are here for serious business, aiming to secure three points by the grace of God Almighty.”
Expressing determination, some players highlighted their focus on winning, emphasizing their lack of fear towards big names. They called for massive support and prayers from the people of Sierra Leone to achieve success in the crucial fixture.
Deputy Minister of Sports, Kai Lawrence Mbayo (KLM), has joined the team, signifying official support.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian delegation, accompanied by match officials, has arrived in Liberia, setting the stage for an intense clash on the football field.
