The Sierra Leone Law School has officially announced that an entrance examination for prospective applicants will be conducted in July 2025, with the exact date to be communicated at a later time.
This was revealed in a notice issued today, 25 March 2025.
According to the notice, this examination is a critical component of the admissions process for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Examination Structure and Content
The entrance examination will span three hours and is divided into two parts:
– Part A: Candidates will provide short answers to questions covering core legal subjects, including:
– Law of Tort
– Law of Contract
– Constitutional Law
– Equity and Trust
– Land Law
– Law of Evidence
– Criminal Law
– Part B: This section will focus on the Sierra Leone Legal System.
Established in 1989 under the Council of Legal Education Act, the Sierra Leone Law School was created to provide professional legal training and conduct Bar Examinations for individuals aspiring to join the legal profession in Sierra Leone. The institution enrolled its first cohort of students in 1990 and has since been dedicated to cultivating legal professionals equipped to serve both nationally and internationally.
Admission Requirements and Process
Traditionally, admission to the Law School required candidates to have passed core modules such as Equity and Trust, Law of Tort, and Land Law in a single sitting without references. However, in recent years, the institution has introduced an entrance examination as a prerequisite for admission, aligning with practices in other countries.
