President Bio also mentioned the importance of innovative mechanisms to boost renewable energy and promote food security, specifically through the flagship FEED SALONE initiative.
“I am hopeful that your experience and expertise will help in fast-tracking our achievements in these 3 priority areas,” he stated.
Kandeh Yumkella, who ran as the NGC Presidential candidate in the 2018 election, chose to contest only as a Member of Parliament in the general elections held on June 24, 2023. Prior to the election, a progressive alliance was formed between the NGC and the SLPP. President Bio was reelected in the first round of voting, securing 56.16 percent of valid votes cast. However, Yumkella lost his parliamentary seat.
