Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Bio, has revealed details of a pivotal meeting with Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Starlink Business Operations.
The conversation, held via videoconference, focused on strengthening digital cooperation and fostering development partnerships in Sierra Leone, particularly through charitable efforts.
“I had the privilege of holding a successful meeting with the inspiring Lauren Dreyer,” said Fatima Bio, highlighting Starlink’s potential in Sierra Leone. “Our discussion centered around the potential of our organizations working together as partners in the progressive development of our nation.”
Fatima Bio also reflected on her role in bringing Starlink to Sierra Leone. “In 2023, I introduced Starlink to the government of Sierra Leone through my dear friend Richard Griffith. Today, we are proud to say we have Starlink in Sierra Leone.”
The First Lady’s initiative, “Hands Off Our Girls,” aims to combat gender-based violence and promote education for young women.
According to her, the collaboration with Starlink will explore strategies that could “catalyze transformative change” by leveraging digital technology to empower women and children in Sierra Leone.
“This meeting marks a pivotal step towards enhancing digital cooperation through charitable partnerships,” Bio emphasized.
She expressed optimism that this collaboration would foster sustainable development for vulnerable communities in the country.
