The Freetown City Council (FCC) has acknowledged public concerns regarding waste accumulation at the Kissy Bomeh Dumpsite due to equipment issues.
The Council reported that its front-end loader, a critical piece of machinery, was involved in a severe accident and is currently non-functional.
Efforts to rent alternative equipment have been unsuccessful, contributing to the growing waste problem at the site.
In a statement, FCC expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to residents, stating, “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to Freetonians and reassure the public that we are working to urgently resolve this unfortunate situation. This incident does not reflect our commitment to maintaining a clean city.”
The Council emphasized its ongoing dedication to city cleanliness, highlighting the daily street sweeping efforts involving women and youth, which cover 180 major streets across Freetown.
