Freetown City Council (FCC), working with the Sierra Leone Police and approved waste service providers, has stepped up its door-to-door engagement with residents and businesses across the capital as part of the ongoing #DortiMustGo waste management drive.
The exercise, covering all eight blocks of Freetown, focuses on educating households, institutions and businesses about the 2024 Sanitation Bye-Law. Teams are registering people for waste collection services and helping them make payments to FCC-approved providers.
Officials are actively assisting unregistered residents to join the system. Those with outstanding bills are being urged to settle them through available platforms, including the Smart City System and the Dorti Box app.
FCC says the door-to-door campaign will continue as part of broader efforts to improve waste management and keep the city cleaner.
The council is calling on all residents, businesses and institutions to play their part, stressing that proper waste disposal is a shared responsibility.
